Day Tripper
A bench in Tokyo made with resin. Day tripper catalogues 12 specific human postures. To use the bench you need to settle into one of these positions.

from Design Week | Published: 29 May 2003 07:45 Jurgen Bey, part of the Amsterdam-based Droog Design collective, has created Day-tripper, a garish pink, silk-screened polyurethane foam bench. The structure is 7m long by 1.25m wide by 1.65m high and emblazoned with a flower pattern. Its shape was inspired by 'the different positions people assume on the street' and the 'shapes of old furniture', says Bey. The bench will be on show in the 11ha Roppongi Hills Cultural Centre in Tokyo from this month.
"sitting on the sand"
Bey designed a jig to push the beach into a bench. the sand returns to the beach at the end of the day without leaving an artifact. this is definitely performance. the pic beloww is stolen from his website.
